Here are some of our favourite and most highly recommended places to stay in The Chianti:

  • Villa Casalecchi (Castellina in Chianti) - A charming, small 4 star hotel sitting on 50 hectares of Chianti farmland and forest.  The Hotel is home to The Chianti Travelers' Center, offering a unique way to enjoy the Tuscan experience.  Rooms in the "dependences" offer a 4 star experience at a 3 star price.
  • Canonica di Cortine (San Donato) - The Canonica is a meticulously restored Borgo (village) and manor house that sits on the vineyard covered hills around San Donato.  Featuring some of the most beautiful B&B rooms in the Chianti as well as superb self-catering suites, the Canonica is highly recommended.
  • Borgo Fonterutoli (Castellina in Chianti) - about 6 kilometers south of Castellina, the village (Borgo) sits in the midst of the the Massei estates which produce the world-famous Fonterutoli wines.  There is a wonderful and chic restaurant and an enoteca where you can sample the wines.  B&B rooms and several self-catering suites are available.
  • Villa Vignamaggio (Greve in Chianti) - located in the stunning hills above Greve, the Villa Vignamaggio features lovely B&B rooms and fully-equipped, self-catering suites.  There is also a wellness center where guests can enjoy spa treatments. The villa was used as a location for the film of Shakespeares "Much Ado About Nothing".
