DAY 1
Arrival - Catania
You will arrive at Catania Airport to be met by our tour
escort for the transfer to our hotel, the beautiful, four
star Villa Diodoro
in fabulous
Taormina. You will have time to settle in
and freshen-up and perhaps take a stroll in the town to
"find your legs". Later, we will enjoy a sumptuous
welcome dinner.
Overnight in Taormina.
DAY 2
Walk-about in Taormina
Breakfast in the hotel. Today we will enjoy a walking
tour of
Taormina,
the island's best known resort city, which is beautifully
situated 204 meters above sea level. It's busy
centro storico (historical center) with its shops, cafes
and restaurants, and with its winding medieval streets are
truly charming. After the tour, guests will enjoy free
time in Taormina for shopping.
Return to Taormina. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 3
A Visit to Catania and Siracusa
After breakfast we will board our air conditioned bus to go
south along the coast of east Sicily. First, we will
visit the historical centre of
Catania,
situated in a magnificent position at the foot of Mount
Etna.
We will stop for lunch (not included) at a typical Sicilian
restaurant.
In the afternoon visit to the very ancient city of
Siracusa,
founded by the Greeks in 800 BC. Here we will see the
Orecchio di Dionisio, the Greco-Roman
Amphitheatre. We will also enjoy a guided tour of the
oldest part of the city, which is on the small island of
Ortigia.
Return to Taormina. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 4
A Visit to Mount Etna
We will again enjoy our breakfast at the hotel. But
shortly after we will depart for a day's sightseeing on
Mount Etna, Europe's highest and most active volcano. The
coach will take us to a height of 1900 meters above sea
level, where we will have a chance to peer into the amazing,
but dormant craters of the volcano. Later we will
enjoy lunch and shortly after, a visit to one of Sicily's
most esteemed wineries for a special wine tasting.
Return to Taormina. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 5
A visit to Messina and Tindari
Today we venture north to Messina which is the port city
that serves as the "bridge" (by ferry) to mainland Italy.
The tour will start with a visit to "The gate of
Sicily", the church of San Francesco and the Fountain of
Neptune. The astronomical clock is the most interesting
component of the 60 meter high bell-tower next to the
Cathedral.
After you enjoy your lunch we will continue to Tindari,
where we will visit the Sanctuary dedicated to the Black
Madonna. From the terrace in front of the church and
the Greek Theatre enjoy magnificent views of the Aeolian
Islands and the beautiful formations of sand and gravel
produced by the shallows at the foot of the
strikingly beautiful cliffs.
Return to Taormina. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 6
A day at leisure
It's a lazy day today. You might want to sleep in or
take a morning stroll. You can have breakfast at the
hotel if you wish, or perhaps walk into Taormina and find an
amiable cafe. A day at leisure can be what you want;
reading, shopping, swimming, or all of the above.
Dinner and overnight in hotel.

DAY 7
Departure day
Today's our last day, so after breakfast you will have time
to pack up and prepare for your departure. For those
who flew to Sicily, we will arrange your transfer to Catania
Airport.
