VisitsItaly.com was
co-founded by a
father-daughter team in
2005...and since then this
website has grown into the
largest and most
comprehensive
English-language website for
travel to Italy.
After graduating from McGill
University in Montreal,
Canada, Jesse Andrews,
and younger sister,
Arianna Andrews, who had
just graduated from high
school, decided to take a
year off. They went to
Italy to work as au pair.
Arianna was assigned to
a family in
Lucca,
Tuscany, but Jesse went
south to the town of
Praia A Mare, in Italy's
most southerly region,
Calabria.
Some months later, Jesse,
who was smitten with
Calabria, wrote father,
Vian Andrews, to talk
about ways she might be able
to extend her visit to
Italy. They decided to
create VisitsItaly.com,
but mostly as a repository
for information and
photographs about the
villages, towns and cities
of Calabria.
Two years later, when Jesse
returned home,
VisitsItaly.com began its
metamorphosis into an
Italy-only travel website.
Arianna stayed in Italy
where she still lives today
in the magnificent
Umbrian city of
Perugia.
Today there are well over
3500 pages of information
about Italy on
VisitsItaly.com - and over
12,000 photos - and we add
new information to the site
every day. The website
covers every corner of
Italy, from
Palermo in
Sicily to
Trieste in the
Friuli Region and from
Aosta in the
Val D'Aosta to
Gallipoli in
Puglia, the heel of
Italy's famous boot-like
peninsula.
Our goal is to make
VisitsItaly.com the most
informative website about
Italy on the Internet - a
comprehensive, detailed,
interesting, reliable and
sometimes provocative
website about one of the
world's most fascinating
countries. It is, in a
word or two, a work in
progress.
