Little Tibet

Known by the locals as 'Little Tibet' this scenic mountain backdrop gives way to pastures that are shared with free roaming horses, cattle and the 2000 year old tradition of the transumance. You discover views that can only be seen on foot including an ancient ruin.
A good way to get to know the Gran Sasso mountain chain.
Especially good in summer as the high altitude means cool walks as temperature is up to 15 degrees cooler than at sea level.

Gorge Walk

Carved in the Majella National park for thousands of years this lush mountain gorge is perfect for springtime walks. Woodland flower beds of liver anemone, orchid, and primrose, are framed by crystal clear streams and waterfalls. The gorge then opens up to fantastic long range views.

Wolves Pass (M-C)

From the Mussolini hotel we take a walk at the foot of Gran Sasso crossing the Wolves pass. Striking long range views to three far away mountain chains.
Perfect preparation for attempting some of the summits.

A wonderful way to see try some mountain walking, experience a short walk that rewards you with terrific views. Our woodland walk of only an hour to the summit gives us amazing views across patchwork countryside to the sea. On our journey we may meet the local Contadini collecting mushrooms or truffles.

In a traditional mountain valley on the shoulders of the Gran Sasso Mountain Range we find ourselves in a green yet striking mountain scenery. Shepherds and locals still work this area which is home to a chamoix deer nature reserve, we may spot wild boar or wolves. There are far reaching views and the chance to paddle in the pools under waterfalls. The more adventurous can have a higher ascent and continue to a small gorge.
