This tour touches upon all
of the historical and
cultural landmarks of one of
the most important Italian
city states: the worldwide
famous Campo Square, where
the Palio horse race takes
place, as well as the
historical building of the
Monte Paschi Bank, the
Tolomei Palace, the Chigi
Palace (now a Music Academy)
the Cathedral of Our Lady of
the Assumption (where
Michelangelo, Donatello,
Bernini, Giovanni Pisano
left their immortal
masterpieces) and the
untouched frescoes in the
Piccolomini Library, which
are an incredible treat for
the eye.
The remarkable inlaid marble
floor of the Cathedral is
unveiled for a couple of
months at the end of every
summer.
