Let’s begin our enogastronomical journey at the Antonelli winery and vineyards located at San Marco, right in the heart of the Montefalco DOCG winemaking area.

Antonelli San Marco is one of the oldest and most established estates in the area dedicated to producing top quality wines and organic extra virgin olive oil.

“Cucina in Cantina” Cooking School

The culinary journey begins in a professional “De Manincor” state of the art kitchen in design and technology where only the best will do, along with an energy efficient wood burning stove. The kitchen will favour conviviality where passionate home cooks and knowledgeable chefs can pass on the tradition of regional cooking. The environment is that one of a friendly workshop where food and wine enthusiasts use quality seasonal ingredients, and recognise the importance of pairing food and wine to create balance and harmony. The large open space incorporates a dining area, while above another grander dining room with fireplace exits onto a charming terrace.

What we offer:
A hands-on approach is favoured in the kitchen where firsthand experience is the essence to learning. Traditional cooking techniques will be revisited, such as terracotta pot cooking for dried pulses, or meats roasted and pizza baked in a wood stove. You will learn the art of making gnocchi and taste dishes scented with wild aromatic herbs and dressed with organic extra virgin olive oil.

The courses are organized and taught by cook and home economist Wendy Aulsebrook, an Australian who has been living in Italy for over 20 years. Wendy and her team will acquaint you with Umbria’s cuisine, including  dishes that are eaten for folkloristic or religious occasions, or the surprising lentils of the exquisitely simple “cucina povera.”

And the Antonelli wines will be appreciated even more after a stroll to the cellar and vineyards. A selection of our wines will complement the menu.

One-Day Cooking Lesson

We prepare a complete seasonal menu of antipasto, 1st course, 2nd course with vegetable side dishes, and dessert based on genuine Umbrian ingredients.

Accompanying Antonelli wines are served with each course. A guided tour of the winery is included and each participant will take home a set of printed recipes and souvenir to remember the visit.

The lessons run for 4 hours with a choice of a morning session from 9.30 until 13.30 with lunch of the dishes prepared or an evening session from 16.30 until 20.30 according to bookings and availability with dinner of the dishes prepared.

The hands-on lessons are available in English, Italian or German.

Two Lessons in Two Days

The first lesson will be on the day of your arrival at 16.30 until 20.30 with dinner of the dishes prepared. The second lesson will be the following day commencing at 10.00 and concluding at 14.00 with lunch of the dishes prepared. Both sessions will run for 4 hours.

A complete seasonal menu of antipasto, 1st course, 2nd course with vegetable side dishes, and dessert based on genuine Umbrian ingredients will be prepared.

Accompanying Antonelli wines are served with each course.
