This wonderful tour is designed to give those who have not had the chance to visit Rome a chance to spend a few exciting days exploring its piazzas, ancient streets, bustling markets, world-famous shops, monuments and multi-faceted architecture.

Piazza Navona

Day 1 - you will arrive at your hotel to freshen up and get ready for your first adventure in Rome.

We haven't scheduled anything for you today so feel free to leave the hotel and just wander as you will - perhaps to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Piazza Navona to have a close look at Bernini's statue of the Four the very heart of Rome.

If you are hungry, ask the concierge at your hotel for local restaurant recommendations - or just head out and stop at any place that captures your imagination and tempts your palate.

Day 2 - Today, you will take a tour of Ancient Rome, including a visit to the Colosseum, the arena where many slaves and prisoners met their end entertaining Romans with pitched battles against wild animals and other desperate fighters.  You will also take a walk through the Forum Imperiale, the main public square of Rome during the days of empire.

You can enjoy lunch in a Roman trattoria or perhaps at one of its market stalls.

After lunch you will visit a country within a country, the Vatican is the seat of the Holy See - the Roman Catholic Church.  Today, your guide will take you to the broad square in front of St. Paul's Basilica to see Bernini's arcades.  Then you will enter St. Paul's itself, whose dome was designed by Michelangelo himself, to see its  spectacular interior with sculpture and artwork by masters such as Da Vinci, Rafaele, Giotto and many others.  Your tour will also take you to the Sistine Chapel to see the unbelievable ceiling painted by Michelangelo, and then into the mind-boggling Vatican museums.

Once again, your evening is free so your own your own - but we recommend you dine at one of Rome's restaurants to enjoy the local cuisine.

The Forum in Rome

St Paul's Basilica, Vatican

Day 3 - Today you will venture outside Rome to an ancient town called Mazzano Romano.  You will visit the private villa of famed Roman Chef Fabio Bongianni who will take you to a local market to buy the ingredients to a dinner you will prepare under his expert guidance.  It's a feast (weather permitting) you will enjoy al fresco in the Chef's Italian garden.

After you are returned to your hotel you can rest a little befor deciding on how to spend your last night in Rome.  Perhaps a dinner cruise on the River Tiber... ?

Day 4 - It's your last day to spend as you wish.  You could visit the Catacombs, the Jewish Ghetto, take a tour around the Baroque Architecture of Bernini and Borrommini, make an excursion to the gardens at Tivoli, venture south to Naples and's entirely up to you!

Our agents can help you plan your day or the next leg of your trip to Italy.  Needless to say, the possibilities are almost infinite...
