Le Gelosie, which features both a B&B component and a handful of great apartments, is located inside an old palace completely renovated with real mastery, which overlooks Piazza Signorelli, in the town centre, one of the strategic and most lively spots in Cortona. It is a comfortable place and is furnished in very good taste.
Le Gelosie is located just inside the city walls, in the historical town centre, and more exactly at the corner between Via Dardano and Piazza Signorelli. In the Piazza Signorelli stands the wonderful namesake theatre (Signorelli), with its arcade where, in Spring and Summer time, breakfast will be served.
Very interesting is the near Piazza della Repubblica, where the beautiful medieval Palazzo Comunale stands tall. This is a place usually used by artists (Andre Rieu) and set designers (the film Under the Tuscan sun) as the setting for their concerts or artistic and cultural performances. The best restaurants and wine shops are within a stone’s throw.
There are four B&B bedrooms, furnished with grace, perfectly in consonance with the setting, inspired by simple and “natural” choices. The furniture and all articles are the result of a careful selection, and a skilful manner in the use of the colours gives to the bedrooms a very personal touch. The whole is enriched with luxurious bed linens and fresh bath-towels and vigorous water-jets in the bathrooms.
The Le Gelosie apartments are the natural and inviting alternative to our hospitality and combine good taste and attention for details. The materials, the colours and the spaces were studied to satisfy the esthetical pleasure along with the natural need for comfort. The XVIII century Palace, where Le Gelosie apartments are located, faces Piazza della Repubblica, next to the beautiful medieval Palazzo Comunale, a setting often used by artists (Andre Rieu) and set designers (Under the Tuscan Sun) for their artistic and cultural performances.
Each room is equipped with satellite TV, air conditioning, ADSL internet access, 24 hours a day, so that guests can connect using their laptops, download their e-mails and surf quickly the net with no extra payment.
From April to October breakfast is served under the scenographic loggias of the Teatro Signorelli (where some scenes of Roberto Benigni’s movie, La vita č bella, were filmed), enjoying a wonderful view of Piazza Luca Signorelli. This accommodation facility shows originality and personality and is absolutely one of a kind. Le Gelosie will be a must for those who are looking for something different and not very demanding.
