Villa San
Michele is an
old farmhouse dating
back to the 1600’s,
situated on the
outskirts of the hamlet
of Vico d’Elsa, on the
hills between Florence
and Sienna, facing San
Gimignano. Thanks to the
meticulous restoration
of the old building
carried out by its
owners, the villa has
been restored to its
original splendour and
is a place of
outstanding charm in
which to stay, even for
considerable periods of
time, surrounded by a
particular atmosphere
characterised by comfort
and little,
long-forgotten, details.
Villa San Michele has
become an enchanting
country residence which,
once visited and left,
will leave you with the
desire to return.
The spacious, bright
interiors are carefully
furnished; every room
studied right down to
the tiniest detail, with
antique furniture,
Persian carpets,
original paintings and
authentic Tuscan items.
The original interior
structure with open
brick arches lends
striking charm to the
villa. The floors are
made of Tuscan
terracotta tiles and the
ceilings feature wooden
beams and mizzens.
Outside, next to the
kitchen, a wooden porch,
furnished with a table
and chairs, is perfect
for dining al fresco in
the garden.
A large garden with
private parking
facilities surrounds the
house, guaranteeing
privacy. Guests can
descend charming steps
made of tuff, dug
directly into the soil
of the garden, leading
to the swimming pool,
strategically positioned
in a panoramic spot
overlooking the
surrounding countryside.
The Bedrooms
The five bedrooms (two
double and three twin),
all with
air-conditioning, are
situated three on the
upper floor and two on
the ground floor. Each
one is characterised by
different coloured walls
and coordinated
furnishings chosen with
exceptional care.
Two rooms have a private
en-suite bathroom and
one of the twin rooms
has big glass French
windows opening out onto
the garden, offering a
view over an immense
natural picture.
The Bathrooms
The five bathrooms are
furnished to offer every
possible comfort. They
are complete with shower
cubicles and the main
bathroom also has a
large Jacuzzi.
The Kitchen
The large kitchen is
equipped with the latest
technology (dishwasher,
oven, microwave oven,
double-door fridge with
ice-dispenser), but the
furniture is in
authentic Tuscan style,
fully evoking
old-fashioned charm.
Around the spacious
dining table, where the
farmer’s family used to
gather together, guests
can enjoy typical Tuscan
cuisine prepared by
special request (bruschetta,
soups, T-bone steaks).
The Games Room
On the upper floor there
is a big room with an
authentic hand-axed
wooden beam ceiling, lit
by windows with an
enchanting view of San
Gimignano.
The room is furnished
with a beautiful solid
wood billiard table
dating back to the early
twentieth century, fully
accessorised and
complete with balls for
every kind of game, and
accompanied by a card
table. Here guests can
play and enjoy relaxing
moments in the villa.
The Lounge
The lounge is an
enormous room with all
the original features of
the old farmhouse. A
majestic arrangement of
brick arches in the
middle of the lounge
lends it an impressive
air and no words are
needed to tell its
story. Few can remain
indifferent to this
architectural wonder
which displays the
traditional construction
techniques once used.
Every detail has been
meticulously studied.
There is a big fireplace
with a stone
mantelpiece; chiselled
stone steps improve the
view from windows with
brick sills and the
decorated walls make the
atmosphere warm and cosy.
A wide, solid wood open
staircase leads from the
lounge to the upper
floor, creating a
panoramic indoor terrace
lit by a splendid Murano
glass chandelier.
The Swimming Pool
The swimming pool, built
especially to help
guests relax, is oval in
shape, with large Roman
steps on which to sit to
cool off and soak up the
sun. The surrounding
garden is fully
furnished with loungers
and accessories for
sunbathing. A wooden
patio creates a shady
area furnished with a
table and chairs where
guests can enjoy drinks,
play with friends or
read al fresco. The
swimming pool is open
from May 1st until
September 30th.
Relaxation area
A large terrace in the
garden offers a
panoramic view of the
countryside with the
towers of San Gimignano
in the background. This
is the ideal place for
relaxing, sunbathing,
writing or painting,
perhaps while enjoying a
glass of Chianti!
