The Villetta Mimma
Vittoria is one of those places that offers a
dramatic surprise. Located on a quiet
street just 100 meters from the centro storico
(historical center) of Gioia Tauro in southern
Calabria, about half way between Tropea and
Reggio Calabria, it has a plain facade.
Everyone who has stayed at the villetta comments
favourably on it and so it has a fantastic
and well-deserved reputation.

Vittoria's real charms and delights are on the
inside where the owner has transformed the
villetta into a chic, sophisticated modern
apartment evocative of the New World - and not
the old. Some say it is "Manhattan"
quality.
The Villetta has two bedrooms and two bathrooms,
and features an impeccable, modern,
fully-equipped kitchen. Bed and bath
linens are of superior quality.
The comfortable lounge, where one can relax
after a hard day of play, includes an
up-to-date entertainment center with TV, DVD and
CD player. When the mood strikes, guests
have access to an amazing film collection.

There is a small balcony off the master bedroom
and a small sitting area with a table and chairs
in the vico - or passageway beside the house.
No smoking is allowed inside, so the vico offers
a sanctuary for those who indulge.
The Villetta is a great place from which to
explore Gioia Tauro, whose principal shopping
and pedestrian areas are an easy walk (100
meters) and whose beaches are readily accessible
(about 1 km). Gioia Tauro is also well
situated for those who want to explore southern
Calabria or even cross over to Sicily on the
frequent ferries that come and go from nearby
Scilla. |
