The Villa
Teto, set among olive groves
and vineyards that were
already listed in tax
records as far as 1392, is
the heart of the estate.
Built towards the end of the
18th century, its square
design, four-sided roof,
private chapel, central
staircase and mouldings
carved from the local grey
stone are typical of the
Lucca area. It is surrounded
by a beautiful garden and a
shady wood of ilex trees,
where a gentle staircase
leads to the 18th century
fountain, shaded in
maidenhair fern and fragrant
with moss and violets.
To the West a lavender and
rosemary lined path leads to
the swimming pool (17x9 m)
reserved exclusively for the
Villa's guests. It is
perfectly situated on a
terrace in a sunny position
with olive groves above,
vineyards below and a view
as far as the eye can see.
Sun beds, deck chairs and
garden umbrellas are
provided.
Villa Teto can sleep a total
of 10 guests. It has 4
spacious antique furnished
bedrooms -- 3 with queensize
double beds and 1 bedroom
with twin beds -- and 4
luxurious bathrooms with
large shower stalls and
jacuzzi bathtub. There is
also a center studio area on
the top floor with 2 twin
beds, perfect for children.
The ground floor has
a newly furnished
well-appointed
living room with
comfortable
upholstered chairs
and sofas, TV and
DVD and fireplace, a
cook's kitchen and
grand dining room
for 10 guests. There
is a covered outdoor
veranda with a
dining table
overlooking the
panorama and the
Super Tuscan
vineyards of the
Fubbiano wine estate.
The private swimming
pool has sun
throughout the day,
perfect before or
after a day's
sightseeing.
Villa Teto is located in
a lovely scenic hills
about 12 kilometers from
the most picturesque
city of Lucca, with easy
access to a village
grocery store, post
office, restaurants and
cafes. It is most
centrally located for
convenient day trips to
Lucca (15 minutes), Pisa
and the sea-side beaches
of Viareggio (40
minutes), Montecatini,
the famous spa town, (20
minutes). It is about 45
minutes by car to
Florence, or you can
drive your car to a
nearby train station and
from there, it is a
pleasant hour by train
to the Florence station
in the center of town,
thereby avoiding traffic
and parking problems. We
are about an 1 hour - 20
minutes to Siena and 1
hour - 20 minute scenic
drive to the Cinque
Terre. There are several
small lovely restaurants
among the vineyards
nearby for a relaxing
dinner after a day's
travels.
