Description
Amongst the hotels in downtown Montecatini, the Grand Hotel Tettuccio is in a really privileged location: facing Montecatini's main street, it is right in front of the huge Parco Termale (Thermal Park) set in the pinewood that houses the famous thermal facilities of Montecatini Terme.

Amongst all the hotels, the Grand Hotel Tettuccio is one of the historic 4 star hotels in Montecatini. Close to the spas, located on the street where pedestrians stroll and shop, guests can easily arrive to it from the train station (5 minutes by foot) and from the highway exit A11 Pisa - Firenze.

The hotel is comfortable, well appointed and in the center of Montecatini so guests can enjoy the restaurants, cafes, shops and other amenities of this wonderful town.

Montecatini's thermal facilities must be visited not only for their cures and wellness treatments but also because they represent the highest example of Italian and European thermal architecture of the Nineteenth and Twentieth centuries. The historic center is located in Montecatini Alto (Upper Montecatini), reachable with the characteristic funicular service. This location has preserved the alleyways and little squares of a time and visitors may enjoy a wonderful view of Montecatini and Valdinievole from up there.

The salty-sulphate-alcaline waters of Montecatini, with precious salts and minerals such as bromine, calcium, chlorine, iodine, lithium, magnesium, potassium, sodium and sulphate have always been known for their beneficial properties (liver purification and cholesterol reduction, relief from respiratory problems, improvement of rheumatic ailments and other orthopaedic problems, ect.).

The Medici Dukes determined the development of Montecatini as a prestigious thermal holiday spot during the end of the Nineteenth century would recover the swamp lands and turn the city into a major European  resort.  They were right - it was an immediate success and over the years became a playground for the rich and famous, including stars of the Belle Epoque,  Rossini, Verdi, Strauss, D'Annunzio and many others.
