The villa of the farm of San Martino stands just outside the ancient walls of Montepulciano on a hillock: the country path that leads to it runs along the borders of the town, through fields of vineyards, olive trees, sunflowers and wheat. The owners pride themselves on their "green" approach to the operation of their Agriturismo and all aspects of their buildings and operations are designed to meet the highest ecological standards.
THE VILLA of the Fattoria San Martino blends completely with the beautiful landscape of the Montepulciano wine district that surrounds it thanks to the colours of the external plaster obtained with local earth mixed with natural lime. It has been totally restored using exclusively natural materials such as lime, wood and stone, natural earths and beeswax for finishing.
On the first and second floor the farmhouse features 3 suites (approx. 45 mt) with private bathroom. There is also 1 double room with private bathroom (approx. 27 mt). king size beds, 220 cm long, with a solid wood frame treated with beeswax. The springs consist of a double layer of evaporated beech placed upon three latex elements that allow perfect adaptability. The mattress is a cotton futon, the pillows are made with millet; the sheets are in natural fibers and the blankets in pure wool.
The floors are in solid wood and treated with beeswax; the heating system is placed within the walls that themselves radiate giving a homogeneous feeling of warmth; but what is most important to us is that our system of energy management is the fruit of a complex study that has enabled us to obtain heat and energy essentially from natural and renewable sources such as sun and wood.
The edge of the outside garden is marked by three great secular pine trees which in the summer create a precious area, shady and cool. For breakfast, and vegetarian dinners - that can be prepared upon request – we only use organic products either directly from the farm or bought locally. |
