The Fattoria di Stibbio  is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Tuscany, just a few kilometers from the medieval town of San Miniato, famous for its compelling history, for its ancient architecture, and for the white truffle, prized by gourmands and top chefs around the world.

The fattoria, or farmhouse, is a Villa which was realized from the recent restoration of an ancient building, constructed at the end of the XV century by the Medici family of Florence.  The building, located in the very heart of the small and beautiful village of Stibbio, has a spectacular view of the surrounding Tuscan landscapes.

The hotel building is furnished with old furniture and antiques, and the meticulous restoration preserved ancient features and architectural elements  as well as the original charm and ambience of the Medici era.  At the same time, the fattoria is equipped of all the modern comforts: internet wireless, hi-fi, sat TV, air conditioning for summer cooling and central heating to keep things cosy in winter.

Looking out the villa's windows or from the terrace, one casts an eye across forests, vineyards, olive groves and a smattering of small villages and towns.  From the garden of the villa you can easily reach an age-old trail  that will take you along a ridge with a panoramic view over the Voghera Valley.  The garden boasts gardens and a large swimming pool.  Guests have access to bicycles, and to horseback riding.


The Ministry of the Cultural Assets has declared the Fattoria di Stibbio “a building of particularly important interest”.  A carved stone near the villa testifies that in 1595 Jacopo, Tommaso de’ Medici’s son, enlarged the villa and equipped it of a semicircular well. The building, compact and strict on the main facade, which faces the church, is more pleasant on the back, thanks to the lateral structure, which extend towards the garden. The coat of arms of the Medici family is on the top of the main door which opens the great hall with the beautiful wooden ceiling and with the walls drawn with flowers.

In the hall there is a big fireplace; its frame and its seats are made of stone; the pavement of the main room is made of cotto and the original doors have frames made of serene stone.  In this room the guests can seat around a big table to taste the typical food of the Tuscan cooking, prepared by an expert chef.

At the same floor there is a wide and well-equipped kitchen. The guests can use the big fireplace or the firewood oven.  From the hall you can approach the sitting room, the TV room, the reading room and you can go outside, on the terrace, where the whishing well is placed.  From this terrace you can reach a second and bigger terrace, where you can have breakfast, read  or just relax.

From the main staircase of the hall you can go to the first floor. A great room, which was originally used as a granary and as a warehouse, is now furnished of a big and comfortable sofa, of armchairs and of a warm and hospitable parquet.

From here you can go into the 5 bedrooms, all different for colours, decorations and furnishing. Every room is double except one which is linked to another sweet room with a single bed. Every room has a private bathroom, the telephone, the internet wireless, a small safety box.
All the spaces have the air conditioning.
