The 4 star Grand Hotel Ortigia is close to the deep blue Mediterranean sea, a stone’s throw from the Fonte Aretusa on the Island of Ortigia which forms the oldest part of Siracusa. It is within easy walking distance of the new city and it is also near the Marina di Siracusa where guests can rent boats, organize sea excursions, or just walk the area. The Hotel was built during the first years of the Nineteenth century and it is now one hundred years old, and even thought is was restructured in 1995 its native architectural structure remains unchanged: as does the charm of its Liberty style. Inside the hotel, preserved in perfect condition, is the Mura Spagnole (Sala Bastione) and other archaelogical finds discovered in the “Piccolo Museo” area.
Among the fifty-eight rooms there are sixteen junion en-suite and deluxe suite. All the rooms are furnished in an elegant style and they are provided with modern technological communications, and with Jacuzzi baths. The Hotel is provided with the WI-FI system for access to the internet.
On the Terrazza sul Mare is a restaurant, which is accessed by a panoramic lift. The terrace itself stretches out along the tourist dock from which the beautiful Mediterranean sunseats can be admired as the clear evening light floods the sea of Ortigia.
