Perched high on a hillside beneath the temple of Monte Giove in the middle of an ancient olive grove, panoramic Villa Vulcano boasts a magnificent panoramic view of the picturesque town of Terracina, the endless blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea and an ancient monastery.

It is the elegant seaside retreat of the international family who built it, and now lavishes it with love and attention.

The villa is surrounded by a wonderful year round garden with a hundred year old olive trees (the family produces their own extra virgin olive oil, lemon, orange, palm and pine trees and Mediterranean flowers of all colors.

A private swimming pool with an exceptional view of the Mediterranean is located in the center of the garden - a tranquil spot for sunbathing or cooking fresh fish on the outside fireplace.

If you long for the sea, Terracina's white sand beaches are a five minutes drive away.  Rich in history and culture Terracina is less than an hour south of Rome, and halfway to Naples and the Amalfi Coast.

The climate is warm and dry in summer-time and mild and mostly very sunny during winter-time. In Dicember often you can enjoy your lunch outside and tan during long walks on the beach. The season to take a swim in the ocean is from May through mid Otober.

On-site amenities:

Partly covered terrace with breathtaking views of sunset over the Mediterranean Sea, the peninsula of San Felice Circeo and the island of Ponza, the new Capri. Private and quiet swimming pool for reading under lemon trees and cooling down on hot summer days. (The swimming pool has no shallow side so little children have to be supervised all the time!)

Outside fireplace for barbecuing right next to the pool. Inside fireplace for winter dinners with ocean view. Fire wood provided. Cook on request. Beautiful garden setting, including a herbal garden.

Activities and attractions in the area:

The beaches between Sperlonga, Terracina, Sabaudia and San Felice are called the "Riviera di Ulisse". There are long white sand beaches - great for premium tanning and people watching - as well as rocky beaches and undiscovered ones, to reach by little boats.

The nearby islands of Ponza and Ventotene (to reach by boat in about an hour from the port in Terracina) are said to outstrip Capri for its beauty and not being touristy.

Lakes formed out of the remnants of silent volcanoes offer a respite from the summer heat - lake Sabaudia - canoeing and bird watching, Lago di Nemi - famous for its restaurants. The "Parco Nazionale del Circeo", a national park was founded in 1934 to protect the native wildlife. Today the park is an intricate mix of wetlands, beaches, coastal lakes, forests and dunes that offer a world of outdor activities.

Historical sightseeing is a must: Museo Archeologico in Tarquinia for an insight of the Etruscans, museo di Sperlonga, Castello di Fondi, the port with its antique yachts in Gaeta, Tivoli, Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este, built from the shell of a Benedictine monastery.

The cloister of Fossanova was the set of "In the name of the rose" with Sean Connery. The monks still live and work here and you may buy their refreshing wine, honey, tisane or olive oil. There are several medieval hill towns around Terracina - each one famous for a different cultural event or dish: Sermoneta for its galleries and concerts, Sezze for its ester procession (bible story) with professional and local actors and its artichoke celebration, Bassiano for its Prosciutto and others.

For shopping of Prada, Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana just head to one of the nearby outlets (Valmontone, Castel Romano, Monte San Biagio, Pontinia)or walk around in Terracina.

Obviously one of the nicest things is to enjoy a delicious freh fish dish in one of the great Guide Michelin restaurants in Terracina, Sperlonga or San Felice.

You find all kind of sports centers in Terracina (gym, sailing, windsurf etc.)
