A row of small turrets line the roof of this elegant house like a crown. Their shape tells us that, being ’ghibellini’, this large farm estate supported a foreign emperor as opposed to the pope. And this in turn gives us an inkling of the style and grandness of the house within.
High ceilings, some arched, mostly hung with chandeliers; walls adorned with original paintings; furniture that is comfortable and attractively antique  – this house is indeed elegantly grand and quite out-of-the-ordinary – definitely not a ’run of the mill’ holiday house.

It is divided into two independent parts: the main house for 8 people and an ’annexe’ for another 4 people, though that term does not, in any way, do it justice.

Location
This castle-like property is 1 kilometre from Talsano, itself just south-east of the city and major port of Taranto 10 kilometres away. Taranto was founded in the 7th century BC by the Greeks and serves up various activities, notably culture, in the form of the Aragonese Castle and the 11th century cathedral, as well as pleasure, in the form of its numerous open-air bars and fish restaurants. There are essential shops, banks and chemists in Talsano and the sea are just 5 kilometres away, there is excellent sea-swimming at Lido Bruno and Marina di Pulsano a little further on. A private driveway leads to the imposing double gates into a courtyard in which there is ample parking.  Swimming pool to be completed by June 2007.

To the left is the vine-covered annexe: entrance into arched sitting room with French windows out to covered eating area. Archway to dining room and kitchen corner equipped with oven, stove, sink, fridge and dishwasher. One twin bedded room with en-suite bathroom, WC etc. One twin/double bedded room with en-suite shower room, WC etc.

Main house: from courtyard, two flights and 26 steps to front door and hall. Right into very elegant spacious sitting room. Large double bedded room with unfurnished terrace. Bathroom, WC etc. Two twin bedded rooms, both with en-suite shower, WC etc. Laundry room and kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, double sink unit, 5 ring stove, oven and fridge/freezer. Formal dining room with doors to furnished veranda and distant farmland views. Via study into double bedded room with marble-clad bathroom, WC etc and unfurnished roof terrace (unsuitable for children).
