Dominating the
Piazza della Repubblica the Hotel Principe di
Savoia is a luxury five-star hotel that has been
the natural home for international travellers
and cosmopolitan society since the 1920's.
The hotel's
imposing
neoclassical facade hides one of the world's
most luxuriously appointed hotels. With its
superb location, superlative facilities and
outstanding standards of service, the Hotel
Principe di Savoia offers a winning combination
of old-fashioned opulence combined with the
latest innovations in technology and design.
Easily accessed
from all parts of the city and close to Milan's
many attractions and elegant shopping districts,
the Hotel Principe di Savoia is within 50
minutes of Milan's main airport, Malpensa.
The hotel's grand
main entrance is a welcoming gateway to the
hotel's 401 richly appointed rooms and suites,
and to an unforgettable stay in Milan. The Hotel
Principe di Savoia offers a vast array of
services as would be expected of Milan's oldest
and most well-renowned five-star hotel.
Each of the 401
spacious guest rooms and suites at the Hotel
Principe di Savoia is decorated and furnished to
reflect the warm and elegant atmosphere of
19th-century Lombard interior design combined
with the unobtrusive integration of modern
technology. Wainscote wood panelling frames
wall-coverings of precious damask and the
furniture is inspired by the creations of the
celebrated Maggiolini, so each room conveys a
note of elegance and refinement. The bathrooms
are spacious with marble tiling in soft colours
and provide soft bathrobes and a telephone
outlet.
The rooms are perfectly soundproof and feature
wireless high-speed Internet access,
air-conditioning and thermostatic heating
control, a refrigerator bar and a direct dial
telephone. All our bedrooms have large opening
windows allowing fresh air to circulate.
Occupying ten floors there are 269 rooms and 132
suites to choose from.
In January 2006 the 48 new Deluxe Mosaic Rooms,
all overlooking Piazza della Repubblica, were
opened to the public.
Three basic interior décor themes prevail:
Venetian-style rooms feature rich gold and ochre
silks and velvets within a warm neutral setting
with contrasting turquoise and Murano glass
mirrors. Sculptured desks have been forged from
white onyx and steel. Imaginative mosaic walls
decorate the bathrooms which also feature
Brazilian rosewood vanities topped with ochre
glass.
Florentine-style rooms are framed in very soft
blue-grey walls and punctuated with the inspired
use of rich blue damask silks. Embossed
ice-blue leather cover the smoked oak of the
study/dressing room doors. Headboards are of
Brazilian rosewood. The glass mosaic walls in
the bathrooms echo the soft blue hues of the
bedroom.
In the Neo-Classical rooms, bronze floor lamps
and crystal-drop chandeliers highlight the
touches of rich ruby and amethyst set against
the cool neutrals of the background. The
bathrooms feature fanciful glass and mosaic
walls and European walnut vanities topped with
ruby red glass.
The design inspiration and key feature of every
bathroom is the wall mosaic – a
contemporary vision of classical Italian design.
Frosted and clear glass panels work in tandem
to provide both privacy and the illusion of
space. Instead of tiles, entire slabs of Bianca
Lasa, the premier white marble, have been used
to convey a sense of expansiveness. Redesigned
traditional rosewood or walnut vanities have
been contemporized with boldly coloured glass
tops. |
