Carate Urio is a small village directly situated on the lake road which is quiet as the main road it at higher grounds , the village has some restaurants ( one right around the corner) , bank, post office, church , small supermarket , which we call a " survival shop" as most people go to the shopping mall at 4 km. there is a boat stop and bus stop . Walk through Carate and discover the old centre with many steps and small lanes , panoramic walking tracks, with wonderful views over lake and mountains. Carate Urio has no sandy beaches but some meadow-gravel strips for a dive or sunbathing. Beware that the water becomes immediately deep.
