The village of Modigliana was built on the ancient “Castrum Mutilum”, where in the year 201 B.C. the Romans lost almost 7000 soldiers in a battle against a tribe of Gauls called “Boi”. The presence of a necropolis is already documented in the I century B.C.
During the Middle Age, in the year 1278, the Castle of Modigliana was conquered by the Florentines and, since then, it had been under the influence of the Republic of Florence and the Medici family.
Evidences confirm the existence of the house since the year 1386. A route for Somano (ancient name of the building) is mentioned in the "Statuti" of the 1300.
The Agriturismo Settimano has rehabilitated and refurnished the main farm house and created 4 beautiful apartments - all evocative of times past but with modern amenities.

The guests can take advantage of the wide common spaces (both indoor and outdoor) with free internet wireless, a large swimming pool, the barbecue (with a fire-place and a huge table), a small building with an old oven (“forno a legna”) for the preparation of pizzas.
Healthy daily-picked fruit, vegetables and other typical products are free for the guests.
Moreover, few bikes are available free to the guests.
Near Settimano there are tennis courts easily reachable (1 km ca.) and two golf courses (20 km ca. far from the house).
The Agriturismo is open from the 1st of April to the 30th of October.
