Umbria is the heart and soul of Italy and it' just now being  discovered by travelers.  The Region is blessed with a geography  that ranges from the spectacular and ever-changing vistas of the Apennine Mountains along the eastern border with The Marche, to wide stretches of rolling, farm-dotted hills of the south, to the gentle lowlands of the sun-drenched Vale of Umbria through which runs the age-old Tiber River.  Incredible hill-top cities that were founded by the ancient Umbrians and Etruscans thousands of years ago, still engage heart, mind and soul today.  Umbria has it all!

Day 1 - Orvieto
(1 night)

Let's say you arrive in Rome...which is a great place to start a tour of Umbria.  You'll pick up your car at the airport, and head to Orvieto, one of the most interesting cities in Italy.  Sitting 300 meters atop high tufa cliffs over-looking the incredible Umbrian countryside, Orvieto has more than its share of treasures and delights, including one of the most astounding Gothic cathedrals in Italy.  You'll arrive below the cliffs and take a funicular to Piazza Cahen then work your way slowly up Corso Cavour enjoying the shops, gellaterie, pasticerie, restaurants and cafes that populate the street.  One other "must see" is the 16th century well, Il Pozzo di San Patrizio....

Days 2, 3, 4 - Perugia-Assisi-Spello-Montefalco-Gubbio
(3 nights)

Yes you are staying in the same place for three nights - but that's because we want you to have a good base-camp from which to enjoy this unbelievably beautiful part of Umbria.  The first day is reserved for an exploration of the fascinating and energetic city of Perugia, which sits above the Vale of Umbria at about 550 meters (1200 feet).  The second day, you'll drive the short distance to world-famous Assisi, birthplace of St. Francis, to prowl the streets of this remarkable medieval city.  The third day, starting early, you'll drive in the same direction as Assisi, but keep going to Spello, an enchanting hill top town that will captivate your imagination - especially if you come in June for the Infiorita - the festival of flowers.  After lunch, it's a hop, skip and jump to Bevagna, a lovely walled city in a broad valley where the locals have been growing sunflowers and grapes for hundreds of years.  Later, you'll head to gorgeous little Montefalco, on the roof of Umbria, which overlooks vineyards and olive orchards that produce some of the best wines and olive oils in all Italy.

The inn has been created from the meticulously restored buildings of a medieval village that including a 12th century watch tower and a  small but exquisite church of the same era.  It's truly a magical place.

During your stay here, you can relax around the pool, walk the extensive grounds, or take short trips through the incredible Umbrian countryside to some of the areas most beautiful cities: Gubbio (home of the annual "Race of the Candles") and Gualdo Tadino, Nocera Umbra, Valfabricca and other towns where you will find a treasure trove of architecture, art, ancient monuments.
