Soverato
Soverato is one of Calabria's
most famous fishing villages, drawing northern Italians in
droves each summer.
The town offers visitors splendid
sugar-white sand beaches that
stretch out onto a peninsula,
surrounded by the stunning
colours of the Ionian sea.
Beach and outdoor enthusiasts
will love Soverato for the long
sea-walk, shady sea wall and
great seafood.
However, beaches are about the
only thing Soverato has to offer
and visitors should not expect
much in the way of cultural or
hisotrical site seeing.
A busy street runs through the
town's main centre taking away
from the "quaint" fishing
village image the town is known
for
throughout Italy.
So, what the heck. It's a
beach town, and should be taken
at face value. An afternoon swim in
the beautiful blue-green waters surrounding
the area, or a stroll down the "lungomare"
are pleasant and invigorating.
If you have a special friend to
share the time with, there might
be nothing better on the planet. |
