Description
The Dimora Casa Eugenia is one of ItalianVisit’s most recommended hotels in the Arezzo area. If you are looking for the authentic “Tuscan experience” without the clichés of the Chianti area, you will be very happy in this artfully restored, refined and comfortable noble home in the historic centre of Loro Ciuffenna, a small, hill-side town immersed in a fresh green setting.

The colourful interior of Casa Eugenia has been tastefully designed and reflects the artistic treasures already existing in the building before its restoration: upon entering the hotel, the reception area gives way to a common room with frescos covering all four walls. Continuing further into the building one can look from a series of windowed arches on to the river which lies just beneath the structure of the hotel.

On the upper floors of Casa Eugenia the 7 uniquely decorated rooms are all equipped with air-conditioning, telephone, tv, wi-fi internet access, safety box and mini-bar. It is a small establishment which prides itself on detail and a refined sense of comfort. The hotel enjoys wonderful silence considering its position, sandwiched between other buildings of historic centre. This makes for great relaxation mid-afternoon on the stone terrace above the river, and for restful nights.

The staff of Casa Eugenia is warm and welcoming; they are willing to spend time on those small details – such as welcome notes with the weather forecast placed on each pillow – which make the experience very enjoyable.

Next to the entrance of the hotel is a small stair case that leads to the restaurant, built into the ancient structure of the medieval walls. Again, the design and decoration is wonderful: they have achieved fascinating integration of the original structure with modern accents. The result is understatedly romantic, chic and tasty – just like the menu. All dishes are inspired by Tuscan and Italian tradition, but take on new personality with the fresh touches of modern cuisine.

The Bianchi family is owns not only hotel but also the locally-recommended gelateria in town. So if you have not had your fill in the restaurant, you know where to head for dessert!

In the immediate vicinity are various sites of interest: including the 16th century water-mill, lying on the very rocks that make up the river bed. A short trip by foot or by car is certainly recommending to near-by Gropina to visit the Pieve di San Pietro, a Longobard church dating back to the 8th century.

Especially convenient is the A1 highway for day trips: you can reach Arezzo, Florence, Perugia and Rome in very little time. You may consider taking the back roads however and just simply wondering through acres of olive groves and vineyards taking in the sites and visiting small towns. Loro Ciuffenna is a stone’s throw away from neighbouring Chianti and enjoys all of the natural beauty of the area, from sumptuous hill sides to out-of-the-way wineries, without waves of curious tourists to obstruct the view! The staff at Hotel Casa Eugenia can suggest many ways to enjoy your stay, while not missing out on that real Tuscan experience!
