General
Milo is a summer, hillside
resort founded in the 14th
century and having a
scattering of old, dignified
villas. Villa Il Padrino is
500 metres above the village
at the end of a one hundred
metre driveway from a
secondary road and set in
immense grounds with tall,
mature trees. Shady areas
have been furnished for
dining out, but the front of
the house also has a
circular furnished terrace
that is open to the sun and
a magnificent vista. On a
lower level, the owners have
installed an above ground
swimming pool.
Location
As could be expected from a
villa of its age, the rooms
are of large proportions
with very high ceilings,
giving a cooling, airy
effect. The furnishings are
solid in keeping with the
style of the building, and
the bathrooms are newly
installed and nicely tiled.
Although a modern kitchen
has been completed, the
original kitchen has been
saved as a relic and is
quite amazing. For immediate
provisions there are a few
shops and restaurants in the
village of Milo and three
kilometres away at Zafferana
is a wider range. Just
thirty kilometres from
Catania, the region offers
much for culture vultures,
relaxation in the mildness
of the climate and fun at
the village summer
festivals.
Layout
Entrance is into a furnished
hall. The sitting/dining
room has doors leading onto
the front terrace. The
kitchen has cooking hob,
oven and fridge/freezer and
leads into an antique
kitchen/breakfast room and
doors to the rear, furnished
terrace. A double-bedded
room with exit to the front
terrace. A bathroom has a
hip bath and shower, WC
etc., and a washing machine.
One twin, and one single
bedded room and a shower
room with WC etc. A
double-bedded room has an en
suite bathroom, WC etc, and
doors leading onto the rear
terrace.
There is a final cleaning
charge of Euro 110, payable
locally.
The cost of a cot will be
Euro 50 per week, payable
locally.
