Hotel Pace is found in a pedestrian oasis, in one of the most beautiful historical towns in Italy, directly on the lake front, surrounded by natural quiet – typical of the lake towns – an aspect it tries to replicate inside.

The twenty-two rooms, all reached by lift and nearly all facing the lake, have 360 degree panoramic views. The furnishing is refined, with original and impressive tasteful detail. The rooms all have a terrace, bathroom, telephone, mini-bar, air conditioning and colour television. Many have English style bathrooms, with precious and refined sanitary ware and marble. The bathroom of the “Panoramica” room has an English bath looking out over an extraordinary view.

The restaurant is in a veranda overlooking the lake, this too also recently restored. Alternatively eating can be enjoyed outdoors, beneath the berceau, a pergola of wild roses and ivy, in an English garden.

The hotel dating back to the beginning of the last century, occupies a building with a particularly significant history, the union of an old hotel and the Santa Corona religious institute for children with heart problems or for persons suffering from nervous complaints: at the time medicine was non particularly evolved and the lake, infusing tranquillity, was called upon to aid convalescence and healing.

Or again, there is an indoor restaurant, in a warm and fascinating atmosphere reminiscent of inns of the past, with its ancient wooden ceilings; dishes directly overseen by the family and wines recommended by one of the daughters, sommelier Elena Barelli.

A lounge for reading, tasting tisanes and spirits, rest and meditation, overlooks the garden and lake. A very broad jetty, private and reserved exclusively to Hotel guests, offers sun-beds and parasols.

Following the exciting journeys of the Grand Tour, popular with their colleagues in previous centuries, these men were both looking for the ideal climate and environment for their inspiration at Sirmione. And in fact, their letters often recall their stays in the hotel with affection and nostalgia. During the Thirties, two famous English writers stayed in this hotel James Joyce and Ezra Pound, men bound by a friendship. More recently, Charles M. Schulz, creator of the famous Peanuts cartoons (Linus in Italy) in the Fifties, found a family welcome in this hotel, on his way to Venice. He left against his heart after a one week stay, which he defined as “extraordinary”, and one he would still remember for many years.
