"La Pergola" is a
quaint seaside Inn, on the shores of Lake Como
directly behind Bellagio. The name of this
inn, when literally translated, means "the
Shaded Place" and that is exactly what this
jewel of a place is - shaded from the crowds who
patron the cobble-stoned streets of Bellagio,
the noise of Ferraris and the usual weekend drum
or passegiata - as the weekend festivities are
known (in lingua Italiana!)
While this hotel
is not a 4 star resort with Jacuzzis or
elevators, the rooms here are large, airy and
bright. Most of these rooms are with sea-view or
garden view, both of which are equally lovely in
their own right. The rooms are each
furnished with antique furniture the family has
owned for centuries. The beds are
comfortable, the bathrooms fully renovated and
equipped with hairdryers and modern
facilities. The loveliest thing about La
Pergola is that the staff are genuinely friendly
and inviting.
The veranda, where
breakfast is served at La Pergola, looks
directly over lake Como and the small marina
directly in front reserved for small boats. It's
an ideal spot to sip cool drinks, or enjoy
exquisite sorbets, ice-creams or desserts -
later on in the day after a jaunt around the
lake.
La Pergola, is one
of the last intimate facilities on Lake Como,
with a most welcoming, intimate atmosphere,
ideal for quiet reading or stories among
friends. Restful moments after trips on the lake
and surroundings.
